Larry Friedberg

Principal Instructor - Guide
Brief info

I have been training for over forty five years in the internal martial arts and have trained in South Africa, Holland, Japan and New Zealand and am currently the head instructor for Taiji Sydney. "This training has lead me to a natural self confidence, a heightened state of awareness, deeper concentration, more self confidence and an understanding of the different methods of movement, leading to an understanding of meditation."

Taiji (tai chi) training is offered in short-term series for group instruction.
Tai-chi, qigong, white crane, weapons or self defence classes are also held from time to time at Centennial Park Sydney, Coogee, Maroubra, and Sydney CBD for pre-arranged corporate or group classes. The syllabus includes: Cheng Man Ching short form, Master Huang Sheng-Shyan’s yang style tai chi via Patrick Kelly (one of the foremost authorities on Taiji in the world), long form, five loosening exercises and the 8 sets of push hands. Tai-chi relaxes and regulates the central nervous system, promotes physical and mental well-being and releases emotional and physical stress accumulated through work or other anxieties. People of all ages can cultivate relaxation, balance, central equilibrium and physical co-ordination through these gentle and non-jarring exercises. Tai-chi is also often referred to as ‘a moving meditation’ or ‘moving in stillness’ or promoting self awareness and self discipline which in turn generates a feeling of well-being, where inner tensions dissolve and the ‘mind’. A focus on awareness, breathing and visualisation techniques help to promote a deeper sense of relaxation and focus.
